A day of fishing with Tom begins at sunrise. We fish from a 13' StreamTech raft. This inflatable boat fishes with all the qualities of a hard bottom drift boat in average water conditions and out performs traditional boats in low, rough water. As your guide, Tom will build each day on the water around your needs. Whether you are a fly fisherman or gear fisherman, a seasoned veteran or a complete beginner, each trip will be planned according to your level of experience. Remember... Your day of fishing is all about YOU!

We will be floating the scenic Grande Ronde River. In addition to the steelhead, you will also experience the beauty of the Grande Ronde's wildlife. Sightings often include elk, deer, wild turkey, bighorn sheep and even bears.

Hatchery steelhead harvested during your trip will be available for you to bring home. Your catch will be filleted and bagged for you at the end of each day.

*** we suggest you bring a cooler to transport your fish home ***

For Gear Fisherman and Fly Fisherman

For gear fisherman, the Grande Ronde provides the opportunity to catch fish in a variety of ways. We can accommodate a diverse selection of techniques including side-drifting, drift fishing, float fishing, swinging a spoon, casting a spinner, or pulling plugs or divers. If you are interested in learning or perfecting a specific technique, Tom is happy to help you do so. Different times of year and water conditions will make certain techniques more productive than others. We'll always choose the most productive way to fish first, so if you'd like to try something new or different, don't be afraid to ask!

For fly fisherman, we focus on either swinging flies or dead drifting them under an indicator. The majority of fly fishing will be done from the river and for that reason waders are required.

*** Rods, reels, lures, flies, bait and tackle will all be provided, however if you have your favorite rod and reel feel free to bring it. ***
